The start of the summer is ushered in with the solstice and Cancer season on June 20th. On the 21st we will have a full moon in the opposite sign of Capricorn leading the way, as the true cardinal sign that it is.
Both strawberries and roses are ripe for picking at this time. These two sensual symbols have been guiding people in the northern hemisphere into summer for many moons. Summer is a time of sensuality and with the solstice occurring this month we are fast approaching the long days spent outside, soaking in the sun codes, the salt + sea if you’re lucky enough to be by the ocean, along with, being held by the luscious, grounding earth. Summer is the time to connect with spirit through your body. To be active, to interact with what is in your physical, material environment. The fall and the winter are times when we go inward and connect with the non-visible in a reflective and observing, almost, recounting way. With summer we respond and interact with what is in an arm’s reach, what can be savored on our very lips, a time of true embodiment.
The phase of the Full moon
The full moon brings completion, culmination, gratitude, release and celebration. This time sheds light on whatever needs to fall away so you can open up space for what is better aligned. Come to terms with where you are and celebrate that. Seep in gratitude under the full moon light. Time to celebrate! Time to engage in a gratitude meditation. Time to light a bon fire and intentionally release what needs to go. Do it with others, share your joy, lessons, riches and gratitude.
Capricorn Full Moon
This full moon is the first of 2 full moons in Capricorn, making the following full moon (on July 21st) what is known as a blue moon. So, we are opening the summer with a Capricorn sandwich, having us take a deep reflective look at what we started back in Capricorn season at the beginning of the year.
Are we now celebrating any wins?
How has our story around resources and responsibility changed since that time?
The theme of this set of full moons will be around the structures created in childhood that kept us disconnected from our authentic way, preventing us from accessing more aligned resources.
What story have we been telling ourselves about our resources and our ability to gain + maintain them and how does that story connect to our childhood experience?
The archetype of Capricorn wants to take responsibility, not for what we have experienced as children but for our current situations now as adults. Every year around the summer solstice this familiar energy awakens, and we are triggered to look back on our emotional baggage and how it has a direct correlation to our resources and how we show up in responsible ways in society and within our families.
You can’t control what happened in the past, your own past or long before you got here in your lineage line, but you can control how you show up responsibly in the present moment.
This is the time to review what stories you may have even learned/heard passed on through your family that kept you thinking a certain way, within certain parameters for all this time.
Is it really what you believe?
Does it align with what you are trying to create?
How are you leaving your mark?
Find balance between influencing or role modeling and outward focus with inward focus on family + caretaking.
Consider these 2 full moons in Capricorn the final release before the creation + abundance of summer overtakes us, so nice we’ll do it twice!
The fact that we are being asked to release what comes up around this energy twice is significant. Really think about what needs to go, what isn’t serving you and the structures you need now to thrive, not when you were a child trying to emotionally survive.
Influencing energies of the full moon (Major Aspects)
Moon opposing Sun, Mercury and Venus: communication could be harder to have with loved ones, family, parents and children at this time. Avoid saying something in an untruthful light especially to other people in regard to loved ones, it will only cause confusion.
Moon Trine Mars: This is a great time to be constructive and practical around creating a new emotional structure to follow. Create a new story around how you will impact the outer world you’re a part of and your family unit.
Moon Square Neptune: the tendency to be emotionally overwhelmed is in the air, heed the advice to share your emotions and thoughts instead of letting them get the better of you or keeping them inside. Share both your sympathy and your suffering, your worries and your perceptions. Doing this will keep you connected to reality and out of your own delusion. You and others will be better off if you keep this sentiment in your awareness. Just keep in mind that this is a time you may misinterpret things so avoid reacting too seriously to any happenings.
It is a great time to ‘safely’ escape- to do something that brings you a moment of daydreaming or fantasy, something that feels like a quick escape from heavier things yet returning revived and ready to face the new structures you’re setting up in your reality. The beach, the movies, a fantasy novel or game all could do the trick- stay clear of any unhealthy ways to avoid reality.
Until the new moon in Cancer..
