The Pisces/Virgo Nodal Axis- The liminal space in between

Another year, another sunrise on this first day of 2025.

January 1st never felt like a beginning to me but certainly an ending.

So, here we are again- another ending- another liminal space in between one thing and the start of another. The past 4 years seem to have blurred and the whole chunk of time feels like a liminal place in space. The definition of liminal according to Oxford dictionary is relating to transitional or initial stage of a process. "That liminal period when a child is old enough to begin following basic rules but is still too young to do so consistently".

This time between the equinoxes, as we wait in the dark for the light to return, always feels like this transitional period.

It all seems to just feel like we got stuck in the goo of the chrysalis. It’s a time where you lose people. People, places, worlds literally fall away, and you are left with an emptiness that you’re forever trying to fill until you realize you have to stop forcing and start allowing it the space to heal in its own time, for as it does the mending happens on its own in a less noticeably uncomfortable way. And as I say all this it reminds me of the lessons the darkest season of the year ‘winter’ and the darkest time of the year ‘Pisces season’ bring with it. As we are about to welcome Pisces in the north node position for the next almost 2 years we need to get used to these lessons and this dark, fall away, yin energy.

The lessons of letting go.

The lessons of trusting.

To believe in something, to have a vision and then believe it will happen as you don’t just sit and do nothing but rather truck along doing a little here and a little there, as everything does happen simultaneously.

A world of paradox – one of joy and pain.

I started and stopped writing this post on January 18th. It is now April 22nd 2025 and I am picking up where I left off.

As I was saying, a world of paradox- one where we have to continue to wake up, dress ourselves, feed ourselves, go to work and do our daily routines while all this horror happens in the world at the same time. We find ways to do what we can both immediately and long term in response to what we are witnessing now and what we want to create going forward. The world may have always existed in these terms but the people, certainly not as many as now, weren’t awake to it like this.

We have mirrors in our pockets to see everywhere now.

What are we doing with this new ability?

As we sit here trying to cope with what we witness on a daily basis and decide what can be done now and what can be worked on little by little, day by day towards something that takes time. We are filled with both compassion and disillusionment sometimes swinging into thoughts that we cannot make a difference in the micro steps- but with the masses micro steps are massive.

Pisces is the sign of the fish and the archetype of the collective- the wave, the waters, the cycle of water evaporation- the rain. It reminds us we are all connected – what is happening in one place is happening to everyone because it seeps into the water supply through the skies and the ground and the souls of every being.

While the nodes are in Pisces and Virgo we are reminded of our connection to one another, Mother Nature and to our relationship as stewards of the land and each other. We are reminded of our humanity and our service while we are here inhabiting the earth. Pisces brings up spirituality – the unseen and of course, religion finds its way into that space. We have seen how very front and center religion has been so far, as well as wellness- in fact these two concepts and actualities around them have been a big part of the collective. Virgo is the virgin or the maiden, one of the only two human archetypes in the zodiac, the other one being Gemini, the twins. The maiden is representative of many things, but we can certainly relate it to the goddess, the woman who stands alone. She is decerning and critical and with that can grow gardens and feed the hungry, make tinctures and heal the sick. The virgin is pure as is her channel to receive from the divine, spirit, the unseen. Though during this time, we must remember that standing alone isn’t bad, for we can heal and serve but as Pisces shows, collectively we can do more.

We create momentum, movements even.

So here we are- we just lost Pope Francis yesterday, a loss you can see the world felt and

with that here is a quote from the late Pope,

“We must restore hope to young people, help the old, be open to the future, spread love. Be poor among the poor. We need to include the excluded and preach peace. We will never be disillusioned or lose our way if we are guided by God.”

In so many ways, to me, that encapsulates the essence of Pisces, whether you believe in a God source, religion or any greater power or not, Pisces is the unseen and the collective trust in something, and this is a place in time where many are looking towards that- looking for principles but not just principles, real ways to take action and help and stop the terrors of the world in lieu of all the perpetration we see around us.

May we stick together and fight the real foes, may we see through disillusionment.
