Lunar Eclipse in Virgo (Blood Moon)

Every year there are 2 lunations, usually a full and a new moon eclipse in each of the signs that the eclipses are in that season.

This season we have a full moon lunar eclipse in the south node of Virgo at 23 degrees on March 14th 2025 2:54 am EST.

And two weeks later on March 29th 2025 at 6:57 am EST, we have a new moon solar eclipse in the sign of ARIES – not Pisces because we happen to be closing out the previous eclipse season of Aries/Libra eclipses.

So, March is really a transitional month with the spring equinox on March 20th, a changing of the nodal axis’ and Neptune’s first dip into Aries after an 11 year stint in Pisces.

We will also have both Mercury and Venus in Aries retrograding during this eclipse season giving us a highly reflective and reviewing period of time as we are entering the ‘newest’ time of the year. It’s a great opportunity to think about the journey we have been going through in the Aries part of our chart. The part of our life that highlights Aries has been through such an evolution with years of focus on this section of our charts. We have had Venus weaving through it over the last 8 years, we had Chiron the wounded healer having us drudge up all our deepest wounds in this part of our lives for around 6 years and we have the last solar eclipse hitting this section of our lives on March 29th wrapping up the north node’s 18-month journey of evolution in this area.

It’s really been a time of breaking down to build up our identities in this area, to really assert who we are, an uncovering of our authentic selves so we can take responsibility and choose who we are showing up as now. As Neptune is changing signs at the end of the month on March 30th the day after the solar eclipse it will be entering that same Aries part of our charts for a stint until it retrogrades back into Pisces and then will stay there for the next 11 years!

Neptune in Aries will really make way for much pioneering in our vision of the new world, truly- meaning what lies ahead of us. You’d be blind to say you don’t see things around you changing, structures falling away around us- that is what Pisces does - activates a letting go and Aries initiates something new, as Neptune is the planet of visions both dreams and delusions, also spirituality and connection to what we cannot see.

So, back to the Virgo lunar eclipse- Eclipses are like cosmic curve balls they can throw a wrench in your plan for better or worse, but even if it feels like it’s for the worst at the time it generally makes way for better things to come in, things you could not fathom at the time of it happening. Because the light of the full moon gets eclipsed so do the things around us, meaning this may result in you not seeing everything there is to see clearly at this time. This doesn’t and usually isn’t a big external dramatic thing - lunar eclipses tend to be more inwardly experienced. Again, take it all with a grain of salt and just as a reflection prompt nothing more.

Having this in the sign of Virgo- the energy of Virgo is heightened with the eclipse being under it in the south node position. We are being asked to let go and release negative traits associated with the energy of Virgo to better move through this eclipse energy, not doing too much, just noticing and shifting where we can. Virgo energy in a low vibration can be over critical, over analyzing things to the point of paranoia, re-doing things over so many times the magic is drained out. Where are you doing this? It is good to be punctual and prepared but notice where the magic is leaking.

  • Where are you being too corrective that you aren’t letting the flow of the event take place?

  • Where can you give more grace?

Mercury will retrograde tomorrow March 15th- Since Mercury is the ruler of this lunar eclipse, you’ll likely feel it, I mean we generally feel the little inconveniences of Mercury retrograde but really a Merc Rx is a good prescription to go inward and reflect, reflect, reflect. On what? What you’re thinking and how you’re communicating and more specifically in the area of your life you have Virgo. Are you being too corrective of others or judging yourself too much?
