The year is broken into 4 seasons, summer, autumn, winter + spring.
At the beginning of each season is either an equinox or a solstice. The biggest difference between the equinox + the solstice is that a solstice is the point during the Earth's orbit around the sun at which the sun is at its greatest distance from the equator, while during an equinox, it's at the closest distance from the equator. Each year autumn equinox is on or around September 22-23. The equinox is when there is an equal amount of daylight to darkness.
So, what does this mean for us?
Falling leaves, release, auburn colors, apples, pumpkins and crisp weather. We must start finding our balance between the light and the dark areas of our lives both literally and figuratively. The weather begins to shift and cool down the fruits of the land are abundant and harvested, pickled and jammed. We get a bit of a reprieve from the hot days of summer. We start to slow down and feel into our ability to recharge from the long summer nights as we transition into a season of equal work and rest.
So, let’s take this time together to get to know the glory of the moon and all that her phases have to offer, the 4 elements, fire, earth, water + air as the falling foliage of autumn teaches us how to release and rebalance through intentional creation.
During autumn we are finding balance through observing the light and dark qualities of nature, the elements and the phases of the moon. Not every phase of the moon is full of light some phases are meant to go inward and explore the depths of our psyche, while others are meant for celebration and activation. But as with most great things in life, a balance of energies is needed so you don’t burn out. With the autumn equinox you will explore the dark side of the moon and the elements as you are encouraged to look at your shadow reintegrating these parts of yourself finding balance within and without.
All of the QUESTions this season are intended to focus on these principles. The moon is often associated with its cyclical nature, creating a sense of natural balance, an ebb and flow like the tides. Its cyclical nature helps us move through different stuck energies that arise in our lives and around this particular season of the year. There must be death for new life to form, this is the season we learn how to let go.
Keep a journal for the autumn season and answer the shadow QUESTions as they come. Here are some initiating questions to get your shadow journal started;
QUESTions
Use the following questions to clarify what you are releasing this autumn season
1. What area of your life will you be focusing on bringing balance to this autumn? (you could look at where you have Libra/Aries, Scorpio/Taurus and Sagittarius/Gemini in your chart because all the moon work will be based around those signs this season)
2. What is too dark in these areas and needs more light brought to it?
3. What do you need to release in order to bring balance to these areas?
.Autumn Blessings.
